What is wrong with this screen?
Computer Guy: I will tell you what is wrong .. it needs a new video card installed?
ME: Are you sure thats what is wrong with this computer?
Computer Guy: Yes.
ME: Well how much is it going to cost to replace?
Computer Guy: I should be able to put in a new one for around $600.
ME: Are you serious? Why so much?
Computer Guy: Well this is an older computer and it needs an upgrade to the newest equipment.
ME: Are you replacing ONLY the video card?
Computer Guy: Yes, thats right.
ME: Get away from my computer.
That is the conversation I had with a fellow at one of the local shops that fixes computers. I can do this job myself for the cost of gas to the local electronics store and the price of a video card. I happen to know for a fact that I can get the video card online for about 1/6th of what that fool was going to charge me. So yeah .. I took my computer and left that place never to return.

There are so many idiots out there. They don’t understand that business is all about relationship. If you go for the quick score now, you ALWAYS lose the relationship in the long run.
It’s really hard to know who to trust anymore.

Heck for $600 you can buy a whole new computer if you shop around enough. I cannot believe he had the nerve to try and charge you such an outrageous amount!!!
Makes you wonder how many times people have paid him without even questioning it though.

This type of gross over-pricing happens all too much in the computer business. Hell, GeekSquad charges like $40 to install itunes!
