There are so many pharmaceutical companies that sometimes you can have a time choosing which ones or one to deal with. If this country would really take after the ways of of our father country like Italy and France where health care is free, we may have an easier time choosing where to go for health care and meds. I found out that the country that I come from originally offers free health care and free medication. I often wonder that if my ancestors would have known what this country was going to turn into many years after they moved here and dropped us off if they would have come here still. I know that if my future would not have been written in this country I may have been in a much different and probably simpler situation. Maybe I could have had the land that we in our family so desire every day. There is a real need to change things in our lives rirght now and it’s almost like an undying itch to change to something more old country. The old ways of life are not looking so bad right now!!

I wanted to talk to you about a serious problem that is plaguing our elderly. It’s called falling off horses. Thats right. Falling off horses breaks more bones than any other rodeo event that I know of and has broken the spirits of more elderly women in my family that I care to mention. But for the sake of saddles and the sale of saddle seat belts I want to tell you that so far my Memere and my Mom have both fallen from horses and broken bones. My Memere left the scene of a horse accident with a broken arm and fractured shoulder. A few years later, 20 something, my Mom was thrown from her horse and suffered a fractured her tibia. You know how hard it is to fracture that bone?

If you act now you can save a poor elderly person from falling off a horse.

Computer Guy: I will tell you what is wrong .. it needs a new video card installed?

ME: Are you sure thats what is wrong with this computer?

Computer Guy: Yes.

ME: Well how much is it going to cost to replace?

Computer Guy: I should be able to put in a new one for around $600.

ME: Are you serious? Why so much?

Computer Guy: Well this is an older computer and it needs an upgrade to the newest equipment.

ME: Are you replacing ONLY the video card?

Computer Guy: Yes, thats right.

ME: Get away from my computer.

That is the conversation I had with a fellow at one of the local shops that fixes computers. I can do this job myself for the cost of gas to the local electronics store and the price of a video card. I happen to know for a fact that I can get the video card online for about 1/6th of what that fool was going to charge me. So yeah .. I took my computer and left that place never to return.

This week I am setting up the margins in the van to make sure that we are going to have enough room for all of the equipment and for the 6 people that are riding along. This is like the time when I was in band camp ….. I got all of the tactical gear in one spot in the van and I seem to have no more room for anything else. We have to rethink the packing situation for the trip. It is no wonder we always lose things. We take entirely too much stuff with us. When we are only going for a week we will pack enough for a month. But when we are going to take one of those long trips for like a month we only pack enough for a week then we are left stranded with no more clean undies. Go figure.

WHAT???? I was like WOW when I heard this. so I went out and finally got the X Box that everyone was begging me to get for the house just to see if it was possible. I’m a Apple Junkie when it comes to things like that. I want to see and show off everything that my Mac can do that your PC can not. It’s just fun to rub it in that my iMac is WAY better than your PC. You have to understand that there is a certain standing when it comes to having the cooler toys. The one with the coolest toys wins.

The way that it reads on there is I “may” be eligible “if” certain things apply. To me all the stipulation are met by me anyway but I am going to have to contact someone to find out if this is a real option for me since I can’t work that much anymore. This disability has left me in a pretty bad way for the last few years and this is just the good news I need to hear right now. I’m glad that I read everything that was on the packet this time.

If ever there was a time for a computer memory upgrade this is the time. We are planning our first outing in Washington and we are all so excited to finally get up there and get things started for the Podcast shows. We have been waiting a long time to get out on the road and get some awesome footage for the show but I found out today that the memory in our laptop is a little too little for what we want to do.

The streaming from the camera to the computer to the web at home is fantastic. But when we went out to a local show this weekend with the laptop there was a little issue with the buffering when it hit the laptop. Technology is fantastic if we can get it to work for us isn’t it!!??!!

There was a few changes we made with the bathroom faucets and the kitchen area but for the most part no other real major construction. I’m looking forward to either selling it or getting it out on the road for a trip here soon. I like that we are going to be able to take it somewhere now if we really want to.

We wanted to go to CES this year and check out some of the cool electronics and whatnot that are coming out. I tell you .. some of those trade show booths are so extravagant that you gat a real sense of the products that they are promoting. Instead of getting to go this time around I had to stay home and watch the little ones. I still got to see some of it via the video feeds that some people had down there. It’s nice living in the city where most of these conventions take place. We get to see a lot more than most people that live in other parts of the country.

Sis sent me some cool pictures finally of the Turkey Day Center Piece that they made for their big day of food and fun with the kids. I was pretty impressed with the craftsmanship and the work that Steve (Right On) put into the piece. The always come up with some amazing ideas for their new creations and have really moved away from the traditional pipe making hippies I know on the west coast. Not like they are trying to be their own Outer Banks, but they are doing a pretty good job of making the transition from typical glass blowers to the unique flame workers that they want to be.

When I get the pics resized I will post them on here for everyone to see. Very god work sis!

There are five buildings dedicated to this collection just outside of St. Petersburg where one building is dedicated to the glass sculptures of Arab influence. The exhibition in the Arab Hall and Rotunda of the Winter Palace features about 150 glass objects made by contemporary Russian artists.

These pieces are fantastic. I have been to the site and I see that the display of art in this area of our world is flourishing. I love to see the creative qualities of other countries. It brings depth to our whole world and shows me that creativity is abundant in many nations and not just our own. The site is packed full of great little nick nacks. You can take a Virtual Tour that you can take of the museum and the different tours of the buildings is amazing.

Take a look at Hermitage Museum for yourself.

Get your read on. I was just reading a book. Yep … a book. For the first time in a long time. Someone got me a book for my birthday about how to brew your own beer. I was excited to read how people had mastered the art of brewing in their homes. It seems like such a simple process with only minimal resources being used to make some really tasty beers. I am especially interested in the brewing of a beer that is called Honey Brew. I traditionally like dark beers but this Honey Brew just sounds like it would hit the spot right about now. So for the time being I am looking online for some kits to buy that are going to make the process a little easier. I have found that a simple home brew kit is around $110 and you can get really into it with about $490. Quite a big jump in price but it looks as though it is worth it to get the larger package. Soon enough we will be brewing at home and getting smashed off of our own brew.

I was thinking that I would be going to the next event for Dark Skies in June and I wanted to take some things with me that would appeal to the crowd there. My sister, as you may or may not know, blows glass. Her and her husband make some very interesting humming bird feeders that I think would be interesting to some of the people of Dark Skies.

There is a lot of creativity out there and I know that if the people that go there saw the art work that my sis is putting into these feeders that they would love to have one. That would make great gifts for every one of our friends out there. So I was thinking about spending about $1000 with my sister to get her to send out some stuff. Maybe she will have it to me by June of next year.

We will be going to the locals here in Vegas and talking to them about their skills and getting some video of the spots they blow glass at. We are looking for some of the less popular local artists and we will be going to the First Fridays also to see the arts and crafts that are going on down there.

This should prove to be a pretty fun time for us and we hope that you guys will enjoy it as much as we enjoy making it!! See you in a week or so when we start filming.

I finally heard from my sis. The one that started me out on all this glass blowing and getting involved with building a site about glass and flame working. I was surprised to hear from here but I was at the same time relieved. I hadn’t heard anything from her in quite a while and I was starting to get a little worried about them. Apparently they are doing find and they are in Tennessee still selling their glass humming bird feeders. We didn’t talk much except for me letting her know how to change over her website stuff so that she could have someone hook it up for them. That was somewhat of a relief as I have been way to busy these days do build any sites. Although I did set hers up so that she could build it the way she wanted .. it only was held back by her creative abilities. Maybe glass is her thing and not websites.

Non the less it was good to hear from her and to know that the kids are good and that she is doing well with her business. I guess she had a little falling out with our mom so they aren’t on the best of terms right now. I can’t blame mom though .. her SIL is kinds weird. Plus they are hippies and we all know how that goes. sometimes things just happen .. but they happen for a reason. You can check out their new site when it gets put up, Kennedy Glass Studio. It looks as though the original site is still there and looking good from what I can see. There are now some pictures of the feeders in action. That is very cool. Check them out if you are in Tennessee look them up. They are on the East side of Tennessee.

One major priority when blowing glass is safety. You must be safe. There are too many things that can go wrong especially the way some of the new techniques are being brought forth today. Todays glass blowers can be found using torches powered by acetylene tanks and burning hotter and faster than traditional fire ovens.

Working glass is inherently dangerous, involving heavy materials that can be razor sharp, so hot that damage can be done before feeling occurs, with chemicals immediately poisonous, dusts that can damage the lungs, and heat sources that can wreck the eyes. Understand the safe practices required and use them to blow beautiful glass.

This sometimes dangerous craft can leave you in serious pain if you are not careful. Take the time to make sure that you are being safe and following all safety guidelines. You may thank yourself for this later.

And to get more safety tips go to East Falls Glass’s Safety Page.

How do you take care of you glass pieces after they are made? Are you careful and cleaning them correctly? Here is a little guide on glass cleaning and care that you should read and get familiar with if you are a true glass enthusiast. Many people are careless when cleaning their glass and want to rush. That is when pieces get damaged and great sculptures are lost. Remember that your glass piece, no matter similar to others, is a one of a kind.

Anything hand made and hand blown is a one of a kind. That means that you are the only one that has that particular piece. Although the look may be similar to someone else that has a piece like yours … you have a one of a kind. Take care with your glass. And if you are a glass blower, the site has really good information for you as well. Before creation glass care. Check them out! And as always vote and let us know what you think of Glass Blown Art.
